- As they usually work in weather stations or laboratories they study them mostly by observation and occasionally do field work and may have to work extended hours during weather emergencies. Atmospheric scientist do not do all this work alone they receive help from other weather enthusiasts that contribute to this particular study of meteorology by being storm spotters or tornado chasers.
